Join a Bike to Work Day Parade & Ribbon Cuttings on the EVT

Over the past year (and a few months, give or take) we’ve accomplished a lot on the Eagle Valley Trail – which means it’s time for some ribbon cutting! Nothing could be more fitting than parading down the EVT to cut three ribbons for three new sections of trail. We couldn’t have built these new trails without you – and we can’t celebrate without you, either!

Join us on Wednesday, June 26 – which also happens to be Bike to Work Day – to hear from members of the Board of Commissions of Eagle County and EVT partners as each ribbon is cut. We’re welcoming the EagleVail, Dowd Junction and Minturn spur trail segments to the EVT family beginning at 3 p.m. in the Homestake Peak School parking lot

EVT Bike Parade & Ribbon Cutting Schedule

So don your costumes and decorate your wheels of choice – from bikes to strollers and scooters. Since the trail is for everyone, walkers, runners and leashed pets are also welcome to join the parade. See below for a tentative schedule for the four-mile parade, keeping in mind that other than the parade start time, *all other times are approximate.

  • 3:00 p.m.: Park at Homestake Peak School in EagleVail and ride to the EagleVail Business Center

  • 3:20* p.m.: First ribbon cutting in EagleVail Business Center

  • 3:40* p.m.: Second ribbon cutting in Dowd Junction

  • 3:50* p.m.: Third ribbon cutting near Minturn

How You Can Help Complete the EVT

After this grand celebration and official opening of these three EVT segments, we’ll only have 7.5 miles to go. The Horn Ranch to Edwards section of trail is all that stands between our community and a completed 63 miles of paved recreational paths that connect the top of Vail pass to Breckenridge. We need to raise nearly $3 million from the community to complete this last section of trail. Now more than ever – every mile counts, and every dollar matters. Consider donating today.

The triple ribbon-cutting bike parade on Bike to Work Day was a hit! If you joined us and took photos, share and tag #weEVT for a chance to be featured on our social channels. Did you know the CBS affiliate in Denver and VailDaily both mentioned the event? Thanks to everyone who made it such a success!
