Summer Events You Can Bike to Using the EVT

Free live music at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater. Weekly yoga by the river or in the park (also free!). Concert series and festivals galore. And the one thing that connects them all is the Eagle Valley Trail. As THE path to your perfect summer, it’ll get you where you’re going – and help you avoid the hassle of parking and traffic. (Plus you can cut carbon emissions while you’re at it!)

Special Summer Events on the EVT

For those who love to use the EVT to get to work, school or errands around the county, there are two special events this summer just for you.

Bike to Work Day Stations & EVT Ribbon Cuttings

June 26 is Colorado’s Bike to Work Day! This CDOT annual program encourages commuters to swap their steering wheel for handlebars. Not only can you curb greenhouse gas emissions but you can also increase your happiness, according to a Yale study

You’ll have access to aid stations along the EVT stocked with handy provisions and staffed by helpful folks to make your commute even happier. See below for the full list of stations and locations:

  • Eagle: Town Hall on Broadway

  • Edwards: The Kind Bikes and Skis

  • Avon: Highway 6 Roundabout

  • Avon: Bike path behind the Shell station on the north side of I-70

  • Dowd Junction: Main trail bridge

  • West Vail: Donovan Park

  • Vail: Mayor’s Park

This year, Bike to Work Day is extra special on the EVT with a four-mile bike parade and ribbon cuttings for three new sections of the trail. Get location details and learn more about how you can join this community celebration!

Sole Power Commuting Challenge

Sole Power is a free summer commuting challenge for Eagle Valley residents that tracks your dollars saved and carbon emissions avoided by commuting without a car. You can win prizes or parties while competing on a team or by yourself. This is a great way to measure the benefits of car-free commuting.
