ECO Trails Leadership

  • Shannon Anderson

    Shannon Anderson

Shannon is a Colorado native, born and raised in Boulder and Denver, is a graduate of Western State University in Gunnison and a resident of the Vail Valley since 1993. She’s an avid cyclist and enjoys both road and mountain biking. Shannon has served on the Bicycle Colorado Board of directors for seven years. As the largest non-profit bicycle advocacy organization in the state, Bicycle Colorado’s main goal is to promote and increase awareness of bicycle safety.

Shannon believes the trail will provide a safe, scenic and high quality biking experience for locals and guests to enjoy for many years to come.

  • John Bailey

    John Bailey

John has been a member of the ECO Trails committee for 25 years. He has lived in the Eagle Valley for over 30 years, raising 3 sons with his wife Liz, and enjoying all the recreational amenities that Eagle and Colorado have to offer. He has helped design and build numerous mountain bike trails throughout the valley.

John is committed to seeing the completion of the Eagle Valley Trail for the value it brings to the community.

  • Greta Blamire

    Greta Blamire

Greta Blamire has lived in the Vail Valley area for over 20 years. She joined the ECO Trails shortly after moving to the Vail Valley because she’s an avid cyclist and because of a personal experience in 2002 when she was struck by a car from behind while cycling, which resulted in her breaking her back. While she has mostly recovered from that injury, she has decided that she will not ride on roads with cars any longer.

It is Greta’s goal to complete the Eagle Valley Trail so cyclists don’t have to share the road with automobiles.

  • Gary Brooks

    Gary Brooks

Gary joined the ECO Trails Committee to facilitate completion of the valley-wide trail system, which will become an economic generator and most importantly, a connected thoroughfare for multi-modal transit for residents and the local workforce. “With more people commuting on bicycles or walking we can reduce the community’s carbon footprint and increase community health,” said Gary.

Gary wants to ensure that as the final portions of the regional trail system are constructed, water quality facilities be incorporated into the design.

  • Pedro Campos

    Pedro Campos

As a landscape architect with 25 years of diverse professional experience, Pedro is committed to meaningful work that applies the principles of sustainability to innovate beyond conventional development and land use planning. He has made several important contributions toward improving the quality of the surrounding human and natural environment with projects that emphasize water conservation and regional appropriateness.

Pedro views his position on the ECO Trails Committee as an opportunity for the advocacy for multimodal transportation to provide alternatives to reduce the reliance on the private automobile.

  • Dick Cleveland

    Dick Cleveland

Dick Cleveland has served as Chairman of the ECO Trails Committee since its inception in 1996 and has served 10 years on the Vail Town Council, including his role as mayor from 2007 through 2011. Dick and his wife Kathy met on a Colorado bike trip and have remained avid bicyclists since – his involvement in Eagle County trails is a testament to his strong leadership to the committee and dedication to the sport.

Dick is motivated to remain on the committee until the end. After all these years he wants to see this project completed.

  • Bill Fisher

    Bill Fisher

Bill Fisher came to Vail in the back of his parents' station wagon in 1968. He married his wife Sara in 1990 and in 1997, Bill was on vacation and missed a Gypsum Planning commission meeting, where he was “volunteered” to sit on the trails committee. Call it chance, call it fate, but Bill has played an important role on the committee and he’s learned a lot from staff and fellow committee members.

Bill looks forward to a completed Eagle Valley Trail for the community.

  • Paul Gotthelf

    Paul Gotthelf

Paul has been a Vail resident for 47 years. In addition to running Gotthelf Jewelers for 30 years and his current position with Slifer Smith & Frampton real estate and Gotthelf Mountain Designs, he helped run a grassroots campaign to add tax revenues for construction and formation of ECO Trails.

Paul is passionate about road and mountain biking and realizes that the Vail Valley needs a bike path that will connect Vail Pass to Glenwood Canyon.

  • Mike Heaphy

    Mike Heaphy

Mike is a 27-year resident of Colorado and 18-year resident of Eagle County. He was raised in a community in Michigan that invested heavily in bike paths decades ago. He recognized from a young age the importance of a non-motorized community trail system.

Mike’s service on the ECO Trails Committee is motivated by his belief that the provision of non-motorized transportation options is a critical, essential government function to ensure all members of the community are provided safe, convenient recreational opportunities.

  • Scott Schlosser

    Scott Schlosser

Scott has been an active member of the Vail Valley cycling community since he moved to the valley in 1991 and joined the trails committee as a request from his friend Adam Palmer. He raced mountain bikes for years in the local race series and has participated in weekly group road bike rides from EagleVail.

Scott’s goal is to finally say we have completed the Trail from county line to county line.

  • Kevin Sharkey

    Kevin Sharkey

Kevin Sharkey has been the ECO Trails Program Manager since 2017. He acts as the Project Manager for new trail construction and is leading the charge to complete the Eagle Valley Trail. After graduating from the Colorado School of Mines with a BS in Geological Engineering, and an MS in Engineering Systems, Kevin moved to the Eagle Valley. In addition to his current role, Kevin served on the volunteer ECO Trails Eagle Valley Trail Completion Project Design Selection Team.

  • Teak Simonton

    Teak Simonton

Teak Simonton, a valley resident since 1982, has been a member of the ECO Trails Committee for the past five years. Teak currently serves as Eagle County’s Treasurer and Public Trustee, and was the Clerk and Recorder prior to this role. She joined the Trails Committee to serve the community and to help influence county decisions about path completion priorities, trail maintenance and helpful signage.

The completion of the Eagle River Valley portion of the trail has been the ultimate goal and Teak is hopeful that this can be accomplished in the next few years.
